Filipino ENSAYMADA (How To Make Ensaymada)

Ensaymada Rolls



INGREDIENTS:
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. grated cheese (Cheddar or Kraft cheese)
  • 3/4 cup butter melted (or margarine)
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup fresh milk ( warm)
  • 1 pouch rapid rise yeast ( equal to 2 -1/2 tsp.)
  • 3 pcs. eggs
COOKING PROCEDURE:
  • In a bowl, combine  warm milk, yeast, and 1/2 cup white sugar. Stir until yeast and sugar dissolves in milk. (Set aside to activate yeast for 15 minutes).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine dry ingredients such as flour, 1/4 sugar, and salt. Mix them well.
  • Add in the eggs, 1/2 cup melted butter, and the activated yeast mixture.
  • Knead the dough until fine texture.
  • Place the fine dough back to the mixing bowl and cover it for approximately 2 hours (allowing the dough to rise).
  • After 2 hours, put the dough on a flat surface and flatten it. To release the air inside the dough, you need to punch it.
  • Divide the dough into four (4) pieces.
  • Roll each piece until it becomes cylindrical.
  • Cut dough into individual serving pieces.
  • Put the sliced individual pieces in a  flat surface. Flatten them using rolling pin.
  • In a cup, combine 1/4 cup melted butter and 1/4 cup sugar  and mix them well.
  • Using a brush and the combined butter and sugar mixture from a cup. Apply a little amount of butter and sugar mixture on the center part of the flatten dough. (Note: only the center part).
  • Put some grated cheese on the painted center area of the dough.
  • Seal the dough by rolling it (Roll it until it looks like roll).
  • In a tray, put wax paper and place the rolls on top and cover it with cloth.
  • Pre-heat the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes. 
  • Remove cloth on top of the tray .
  • Bake the dough for 15 minutes.
  • Once cook, remove Ensaymada (Ensaimada) rolls from the oven.
  • Using the remaining butter and sugar mixture, apply butter and sugar mixture on top of each baked Ensaymada rolls and sprinkle  with grated cheese.
  • Serve and enjoy your Ensaymada!

DELICIOUS GOLDEN CORNBREAD (RECIPE)




INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup butter, melted or softened
2 – 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup granulated (white) sugar
1 -1/2 cups fresh milk
1- 1/4 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 pcs. raw eggs

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit
2) In a large bowl combine all dry ingredients such as flour, baking powder, cornmeal, and salt. Mix well and set aside.
3) In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar using electric mixer (if needed).
4) Gradually add the milk and eggs into the creamed butter sugar.
5) Put-in the flour and cornmeal mixture gradually while mixing the other ingredients.
6) Pour the batter ina rectangular pan ( rectangular cake pan).
7) Place inside the oven and bake for 30 minutes (you can check if it’s cook by sticking a toothpick and comes out clean).
8) Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool for few minutes.
9) Slice the corn bread according to your style.
10) Place the corn bread slices in a serving plate and serve.

HOT BEEF SANDWICHES WITH MASHED POTATOES & GRAVY



INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 (17 OUNCE) package HORMEL Beef Tips with Gravy.
  • 1 (24 ounce) package refrigerated masked potatoes.
  • 3 slices white bread.

COOKING DIRECTIONS:
  • Microwave beef tips according to package directions.
  • Prepare potatoes according to package directions.
  • Place one slice of bread on each plate.
  • Put mashed potatoes on top of each slice bread.
  • Lastly, covered the bread and potatoes with beef tips and gravy.
  • Serve and enjoy! 

ROCKY ROAD CAKE RECIPE



INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 SuperMoist milk chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 Rich & Creamy chocolate frosting
  • 3 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
BAKING DIRECTIONS:
  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F .
  • Grease or spray 13×9 inch pan.
  • In large bowl, stir together the cake mix, butter, water, brown sugar, and eggs until smooth.
  • Stir in nuts (optional).
  • Spread in pan. Bake for 25 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with marshmallows.
  • Bake for an additional 15 minutes or until marshmallows are puffed and golden.
  • In microwavable bowl, microwave frosting uncovered for 25 seconds or until melted.
  • Drizzle over cake. Let it cool about an hour for easier cutting.
  • Use plastic knife dipped in hot water before slicing the cake.
  • Serve & enjoy!

CHOCOLATE-BANANA GRAHAM CAKE




INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding.
  • 1 banana chopped
  • 1 (8 oz. ) Cool Whip Whipped Topping
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 14 pcs. HONEY MAID Honey Grahams.
HOW TO MAKE IT:
  • Beat pudding mix and milk in medium bowl with whisk for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in 1-1/2 cups COOL Whip and the chopped bananas.
  • Spread one rounded tablespoonful pudding mixture onto each of 13 graham crackers.
  • Stack grahams together, then stand on edge on serving platter.
  • Frost with remaining COOL Whip
  • Crush remaining graham cracker; sprinkle over loaf (optional).
  • Refrigerate 4 hours before slicing.
  • Serve

PINOY PORK ADOBO (BRAISED PORK) RECIPE




Pork Adobo (Adobong Baboy) is a pork braised or marinated in soy sauce, vinegar, peppercorns and garlic. This is an all time Filipino favorite dish. Pork Adobo (Braised Pork) is great served with steamed rice. This is a Filipino national dish. You can use pork or chicken in this dish. This recipe is very simple that you can cook anytime when you want.
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 kilo pork (cut into cubes)
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 1 /4 cup garlic (chopped into small pieces).
  • 4 dried bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon peppercorns
  • 1 cup rice water (optional)
  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 5 tablespoons vinegar
  • Cooking Oil
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
  • Marinate pork in soy sauce, garlic, and peppercorns for 1 hour.
  • In a pan, saute onion first until translucent.
  • Stir in the marinated pork and bay leaves. Wait until the juice from the meat has evaporated.
  • Pour in the marinade sauce and mix it well.
  • Pour 1 cup of rice water and mix it well (this is optional).
  • In low heat, let it boil for 30 minutes or until meat is tender.
  • Once the meat is tender pour in vinegar and simmer until a little bit sauce left.
  • Serve and enjoy!

PINOY SIOPAO RECIPE (With Pork Filling)




DOUGH INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 pouch dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (added to the yeast mixture).
  • 5 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar (added to the flour mixture).
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons baking powder (added to the flour mixture).
  • 6 tablespoons shortening (added to the flour mixture).
ASADO FILLING:
  • 2 lbs. pork (chopped into small pieces).
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, minced.
  • 1 onion, minced.
  • 3 tablespoons oyster sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce ( optional).
  • 4 tablespoons sugar.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch, diluted in 1/4 cup of water.
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce.
COOKING PROCEDURE FOR THE ASADO FILLING:
  • In a pan or a wok heat shortening until it melts.
  • Saute the garlic and onions together and mix well.
  • Put-in the pork and let it cook until no pink color on the meat left.
  • Add in soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce (optional), and sugar. Mix it well.
  • Let it simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Add in cornstarch (diluted in water) and mix it well until the sauce texture becomes thick.
MAKING THE DOUGH PROCEDURE:
    • On a bowl, place 2 cups warm water.
    • Add in the yeast and sugar. mix it well until yeast diluted and set aside. Wait for 15 minutes until you can see bubbles on top.
    • In a large mixing bowl, put in flour, baking powder, shortening and the warm water-yeast-sugar mixture. Mix it well.
    • You have to kneadthe combined mixture until dough texture becomes fine and cover it.
    • Set aside for an hour to make the dough rise.
    • Once dough is ready you can starr kneading te dough again and cut individual slices for the siopao.
    • Using a rolling pin to flatten the dough.
    • Once flat and round, put por filling on the middle of the flatten dough and wrap it.
    • Place your finished siopao in a steamer. Let it steam for 15-20 minutes.
    • Serve!

    PINOY PUTO CHEESE (STEAMED CHEESE MUFFIN) RECIPE



    INGREDIENTS:
    • 2 cups all purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup white sugar
    • Cheese
    • 1-1/4 fresh milk
    • 1-1/4 tbsp. baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp. iodized salt
    • 1 tsp. powder color (optional)
    STEAMING METHOD:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients such as flour, sugar, baking powder,and salt. Mix them well.
    • If you want to add coloring on your muffin, then you have to dissolve the powder color in the milk and add it to the dry ingredients.
    • Beat it well until smooth.
    • Pour the mixture on your cupcake molds and put them to the steamer.
    • Steam your muffin mixture for 20-25 minutes covered.
    • After 20-25 minutes place a strip of cheese on top of each muffin and cover it again in order for the cheese to melt.
    • Once you see the cheese strips melted it’s ready.
    • Serve and enjoy!!
